How does insurance billing work? Fond du Lac | Waupun | Oshkosh

The most common questions we receive are about billing. Read this post, you’ll know more than 90% of policyholders do about insurance billing.

Insurance is a prepaid expense. You pay for it before it becomes active, just like your monthly rent. If you stop paying your insurance bill, the insurance will not protect you. For car and home insurance, there is no grace period. If you miss a payment, you are then uninsured. Do not gamble on this.

If you paid-in-full your 12-month car insurance policy on 1/1/14 and want to change companies on 7/1/14, your agent can have you sign a cancellation request. Since you’re 6 months into a 12 month contract, only 6 months of “Earned Premium” will be kept by the insurance company. The other 6 months of “Unearned Premium” will be mailed back to you.

The best and least expensive ways to pay your insurance is either Full Pay or EFT Monthly auto-pay. The most difficult and expensive way to pay insurance is monthly through the mail. There are just too many easy ways to forget. If you make it automatic, it’s unforgettable.
